Storage Shadwell Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Shadwell in respect of the financial year to which it relates. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our own operations and in our supply chains. Storage Shadwell is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to safeguard people from exploitation.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Storage Shadwell operates a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We do not tolerate any practice that exploits individuals, undermines their dignity, or denies them their fundamental rights. This applies to all aspects of our business, from direct employment and contracted services to the sourcing of goods, equipment, and professional support.
We expect all employees, contractors, agency workers, and suppliers to uphold the same high standards. Any identified breach of our zero-tolerance policy will be treated as a serious matter that may result in termination of contracts, removal from approved supplier lists, or disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal where applicable.
Our Supply Chain and Supplier Expectations
Our supply chain includes providers of storage equipment, maintenance and cleaning services, security and technology solutions, and a range of professional and operational support services. We recognise that risks can exist at any tier of the supply chain, particularly where there are complex sourcing arrangements or reliance on low-skilled or temporary labour.
We require suppliers to comply with all applicable labour, human rights, and health and safety laws. We also expect them to maintain high ethical standards, to prohibit forced or trafficked labour, to ensure that workers are employed voluntarily and paid fairly, and to provide safe working conditions. We may cease working with suppliers who fail to demonstrate adequate commitment to these principles.
Supplier Audits and Due Diligence
Storage Shadwell is strengthening its due diligence processes to identify and address modern slavery risks in our supply chain. This includes assessing prospective suppliers based on their labour practices, policies, and track record, as well as their willingness to cooperate with our ethical requirements.
We conduct proportionate supplier audits and reviews, which may include questionnaires, requests for policy and procedure documentation, and where appropriate, site visits or remote assessments. These audits consider indicators such as recruitment methods, use of agency or temporary labour, working hours, wage structures, and mechanisms for worker feedback and complaint. Where concerns are identified, we will work with suppliers to drive improvements through corrective action plans, and we reserve the right to suspend or end relationships where progress is not satisfactory.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Shadwell encourages an open culture in which concerns about modern slavery, exploitation, or unethical behaviour can be raised without fear of retaliation. We provide internal reporting channels so that employees, contractors, and others working on our behalf can safely report suspicions or incidents of modern slavery.
Concerns can be raised with line managers, senior management, or through existing whistleblowing procedures. We treat all reports seriously, investigate them promptly, and, where appropriate, take corrective, contractual, or disciplinary action. We also support individuals in good faith who raise concerns, even if they are ultimately not substantiated. We expect our suppliers to have similar reporting mechanisms and to ensure their workers know how to access them.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management, and supplier oversight. Training and guidance are being developed and updated to help staff understand the signs of modern slavery, know how to respond to concerns, and apply our policies in practice.
Storage Shadwell continuously reviews our procedures and seeks opportunities for improvement. We monitor industry guidance, legal developments, and good practice to refine our approach. As our business and supply chains evolve, we will adapt our measures to ensure they remain effective and proportionate.
Annual Review and Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed annually to assess progress against our commitments, reflect changes in our structure and supply chains, and incorporate any relevant legal or best practice developments. The review will consider audit findings, reported concerns, supplier performance, and feedback from stakeholders.
Following each review, the statement may be updated to strengthen our approach or clarify our expectations. The updated statement will be approved by the Storage Shadwell leadership and communicated internally and externally so that employees, customers, and suppliers are aware of our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking.
